The speaker for this August is Eric Lundberg. He lives in Cave Creek, AZ, north of Phoenix at higher elevation. He comes to the cactus world from being a professional nurseryman growing perennials and shrubs.

He will focus on understanding the basics of cactus and succulent fertilization and offering practical methods for supplying essential nutrients for improved growth and flowering. Although the presentation emphasis will be on potted plants, the principles and methods can be applied to in-ground specimens as well.

Eric Lundberg earned a B.S. degree in horticulture from Purdue University in 1977, then worked as a wholesale grower in Ohio and Pennsylvania until retiring to Phoenix Arizona in 2016. His plans to do anything but fool with plants quickly vaporized when he learned of the amazing beauty and diversity of cacti and succulents.

Some of the members of the C&SSNM went to visit Eric last Fall and we were blown away by his skill and methods for growing cacti and succulents. He gets plants to grow at a faster pace and at the same time develop fantastic spination and flowering. He will talk to us about how he transferred his horticultural skills from herbaceous plants to cacti.
